Feature: Doug Mastriano
A feature on Doug Mastriano including his political agenda and views.
When you google Doug Mastriano all of his controversial opinions pop up, like ‘January 6th appearance’ or as The Atlantic reported, his ‘Lunatic Appeal’. But who is Doug Mastriano and what does he stand for as a potential governor for the state of Pennsylvania.
He was a combat veteran for the U.S Army and his website says he has ‘four master’s degrees: Strategy, Strategic Intelligence, Military Operations and Airpower.’
Some of the major opinions Mastriano has includes being pro-life. He has backed several different proposals including a “ban on abortion after a fetal Down Syndrome diagnosis”, a ban on abortion obtained through telemedicine and a law that would “block taxpayer funded abortion.” He claims that he does not “give way for exceptions” when referring to abortion due to rape or incest. On his website his “right to life” plans signs the Heartbeat bill into law which ends funding to Planned Parenthood.
When asked about global warming, Mastriano claims, “it’s fake science. And it’s a racket at the academic level”. Alot of Mastrianos claims are in line with the Church including his opinion on gay marriage. He claims, “I’m for traditional marriage. And I am not a hater for saying that. It’s been like that for 6000 years.” Along with this he says gay couples should not adopt children.
Mastriano staunchly supports the Police and claims he will ‘ensure their adequate funding’. He also claims that he will not let PA be a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants. Lastly, Mastriano says he will ban gender studies and critical race theory from all PA schools.
This Oct. a debate is scheduled for Shapiro and Mastriano. This debate is highly important for the voters who are on the fence about who to vote for.
